English as a Second Language Endorsement (ESL)

In addition to completing a P–3 and/or K–6 teaching certification, students in the Inclusive Education Program may select to add an endorsement in English as a Second Language. This requires additional coursework, increasing the undergraduate program to a minimum of 32 units, plus two graduate courses post-graduation.

  • ESLM 525: Second Language Acquisition for Multilingual Learners with or without Learning Disabilities
  • ESLM 545: English Structure and Proficiency Assessment
  • ESLM 577: Sociolinguistics and Cultural Foundation of Multilingual Education
  • ESLM 578: Theory and Practice of Teaching Multilingual Learners
  • ESLM 587: Curriculum, Methods, and Assessment for Multilingual Learners
