Spring 2013 Advisement/Registration Information for Sophomores
There will be a group advisement meeting on October 31st from 10 – 12 in 109 Education Bldg. Students MUST come to the meeting with an updated undergraduate audit sheet, with a printout from PAWS of the unofficial transcript, and with a projected schedule.
Transfer students who are out of sequence should make an advisement appointment with Dr. Strassman. (See the 5 year course sequence.)
Sophomores MUST take the following courses.
- ASL 103 (students must sign up for the lecture and a conversation hour)
- *MTT 202 (MAT 200 for math majors or MAT 105 or 106 for all others is a prerequisite)
- *MST 202 (Students must take both MST 202 and MTT 202 simultaneously and must sign up for the same section of each course.)
- A course in your second major
*Students who have already completed MST 202 and MTT 202 should take courses in their second major or Liberal Learning classes. If taking a Liberal Learning course, remember that you need to complete the civic responsibilities of “gender” and “global” when taking these classes. So, if taking a visual/performing art course (music, art or theater) take one with a global or gender perspective.
Please note that in order to complete the undergraduate degree in 4 years students need to take 2 or 3 courses in summer school or need to take 5 courses/semester for 2 or 3 semesters. By College policy, a student must have a GPA of 3.3 or higher to take 5 courses in one semester. Students can’t register themselves for 5 courses but rather need the assistance of an adviser. This would be a good semester in which to take 5 classes, if you are eligible to do so.
