SPED 695-Internship II
Clinical Practice II consists of 15 weeks of full-time placement in a public school setting or program that includes children with disabilities under the direction of a certified cooperating teacher. Students spend 7 weeks in a general education classroom and 8 weeks in a special education classroom OR 15 weeks in an inclusion classroom supervised by both a general education and special education cooperating teacher. The purpose of this culminating field experience is to provide students with an opportunity to apply all of the skills and knowledge that they have received during the course of the program. Students are expected to gradually take on more responsibilities and eventually lead the classroom. Student’ abilities in various areas such as teaching dispositions, lesson planning, instructional delivery, ability to adapt curriculum, behavioral support and collaboration will be assessed throughout this experience. All students enrolled in Clinical Practice II are required to attend a weekly seminar.
