Troublemakers Project

The Troublemakers Project was supported by The New Jersey Council for the Humanities, Trenton Central High School students, TCNJ students, and local and national disability rights advocates.  This year-long collaboration addressed how the label of “troublemaker” is used to reinforce deficit perspectives about students and families who are multiply marginalized in schools and society. Carla Shalaby, author of Troublemakers:  Lessons in Freedom from Young Children at School was among those who participated in the culminating activity: a two-day lecture series hosted at The College of New Jersey.
